RE: AFL-CIO Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Observance
January 13-17, 2011
The 2011 AFL-CIO Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Observance will be held
January 13th through the 17th in Cincinnati, Ohio. Cincinnati has a rich civil rights history.
It is just steps from the banks of the Ohio River, which served as a natural
dividing line between the slave states of the South and the free states of the
North. As such, it served as one of the last stops on the Underground
Railroad.
As in past years, we will commit one day to community service projects so bring
your work clothes. We will also have an education day, with speakers and
workshops. A detailed agenda for the conference will be available at a later
date.
We have obtained an outstanding hotel rate of $89 + 17% tax at the Millennium
Hotel Cincinnati. This year we have a new system for making hotel reservations.
Participants should make reservations directly online at
www.millenniumhotels.com/cincinnati
and use access code 1101AFLCIO where prompted. If you prefer to call for
reservation, you should call 800-876-2100.
The reduced conference registration fee of $150.00 includes conference
attendance, the awards dinner, labor breakfast and all conference materials. A
conference registration form is attached. We encourage you to register early.
After Friday, December 17, 2010, a late registration fee of $30 will be assessed
and no refunds will be made after that date.
We look forward to seeing you in Cincinnati!
